The popular British newspaper, The Telegraph, reported on April 18th, 2017 that hundreds of women are suing the NHS as a result of vaginal mesh surgeries they underwent and are now experiencing complications as a result of. Some women have stated that they, “felt like broken glass down there,” and to “please sedate me so that I don’t have to be in pain anymore.” Because the transvaginal mesh implants were manufactured by the same companies that sold them in the US British women are sharing the same deviating effects.
According to this latest investigative reporting thousands of British women have been effected at a rate of one in every eleven who under went the procedure. These numbers are consistent with a 2012 report that found approximately fifteen percent of women with the devices will have moderate to severe complications.
